Hollis Hills retaining wall collapses

Funny...a retaining wall collapses on the Upper West Side and it's covered as though it's Armageddon. You have to dig through the local weeklies to find anything about travesties like this one here in Queens:

And a fire house get endangered in Elmhurst and the body count climbs with dead construction workers and ....

the building industry is like an octopus with tentacles in every corner of the city slowly strangling it.

We need someone to rescue us from it.

Congratulations to Theresa Juva, Assistant Editor, who seems to be only writer at the Chronicle capable of fully reporting a story like this.

Keep it up, Theresa.

Dig into why the mayor and the DOB, from the commissioner down, are permitting these dangers.

Cui Bono?

Tsk, tsk,tsk.....well what can we do ?

This , unfortunately, is still the vestigial mindset of most Queens residents....a leftover of the 1950s crabgrass pulling..... water my front lawn.....it looks dry..... suburban mentality !

Only relatively recently have we all been making some loud noise and becoming active in our demands for the delivery of NYC gov't services that our Manhattan cousins have been getting the Lion's share of for the many years past!

Would that the DOB should rush to an endangered building site in our borough as promptly as the do for those Manhattan "islanders" !
